Professor Marko Tkalčič, who was promoted to Full Professor recently, conducted his inaugural lecture on the 3rd of March, 2025 at the FAMNIT, and many of Prof. Tkalčič’s colleagues and students attended the event to celebrate this significant achievement in his academic career.
In his lecture, titled “From Amateur Musicianship to User Modeling”, he reflected on his academic journey and contributions to the field. He expressed gratitude for the support he received along the way and shared insights from his experiences.
Professor Tkalčič focuses on improving personalized recommender systems, by integrating psychological models into personalization algorithms. His research combines machine learning and user studies to explore how psychological insights can enhance the effectiveness of personalized systems. He provided an overview of his research area and its potential future directions during the lecture.
