Nicko Reginio Caluya is an assistant professor from Ritsumeikan University, Japan, and his research expertise includes Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, human factors, and perceptual information processing. His current research interests focus on AR attention guidance systems for immersive live experiences.

This visit also marked Nicko’s return to HICUP Lab after several years. In 2019, while pursuing his PhD at the Interactive Media Design Lab, Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Japan, he completed a three-month internship at HICUP Lab.
During his visit, Nicko delivered a seminar on his research work, which led to engaging discussions with lab members and FAMNIT students. The seminar provided valuable insights into augmented reality, attention guidance, and immersive media experiences. The visit also included discussions on potential future collaborations between HICUP Lab and Nicko’s research group.
