Jordan Aiko Deja Successfully Defends Doctoral Thesis

HICUP Lab PhD student Jordan Aiko Deja successfully defended his doctoral thesis on 23 December 2025. The defense was held in a hybrid format at the Faculty of Mathematics Natural Sciences and Information Technologies at the University of Primorska.

The title of the defense presentation was Designing Augmented Reality Training System for Piano and Jazz Improvisation. His research focused on learning piano and jazz improvisation using augmented reality. The work examined how AR based visual support can help learners develop improvisation skills and musical understanding. The thesis contributes to research in human-computer interaction, music education and immersive technologies.

The doctoral research was supervised by Dr. Matjaž Kljun and Dr. Klen Čopič Pucihar. The examination committee consisted of Dr. Marko Tkalčič, Dr. Branko Kavšek and Dr. Alessio Malizia.
