Yuki Shimizu from NAIST Completes Research Exchange at HICUP Lab

Yuki Shimizu, a PhD student from the Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), Japan, recently completed a two-month Erasmus research exchange at the HICUP Lab, Department of Information Sciences and Technologies, UP FAMNIT. His visit was supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Matjaž Kljun and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Klen Čopič Pucihar.

Yuki’s research focuses on human-computer interaction in the context of autonomous vehicles, particularly on improving passenger experience during travel. During his stay at the HICUP Lab, he explored the use of immersive environments to evaluate the sensation of movement that passengers experience in autonomous vehicles. As part of his collaboration, Yuki worked closely with HICUP Lab members and conducted a successful user study. The results of this study are expected to be published in the near future.

Reflecting on his time in Koper, Yuki appreciated the opportunity to exchange ideas and methods between NAIST and the HICUP Lab. His visit contributed to strengthening research links between Japan and Slovenia in the field of human-computer interaction and immersive technologies.
