Professor Shlomo Berkovsky from the Australian Institute of Health Innovation (AIHI), Macquarie University, Australia, visited the HiCUP Lab on 26th of May 2025. He leads the Clinical AI and Sensing Technologies research stream at the Centre for Health Informatics, AIHI. His research focuses on applying Artificial Intelligence and Engineering methods to develop personalised models for diagnosis and care, as well as studying how sensors and physiological signals relate to medical conditions. With a background in computer science, he specialises in human-centric applications of AI and Machine Learning, including user modelling, personalised technologies, human-computer interaction, recommender systems and behaviour change systems.

During his visit to the HiCUP Lab, Professor Berkovsky engaged in discussions about the lab’s ongoing research projects and shared insights based on his expertise. Also, he delivered a seminar titled ‘Detecting Personality Traits Using Eye Tracking’. The talk covered the use of eye-tracking data to understand individual personality characteristics. FAMNIT staff, along with PhD, master’s, and undergraduate students, attended the seminar.

The session highlighted interdisciplinary approaches combining computer science, psychology, data analysis, and research ethics, and it sparked further discussion among participants.
